FAQs

  • Elsewhere Collective is designed specifically for solo women travelers who want more than just sightseeing – we create intentional, small-group journeys that focus on authentic experiences, genuine connection, and a sense of ease.

Our groups are intimate, our itineraries are thoughtfully curated by Jess & Sandy, and every detail is chosen with comfort, quality, and community in mind. It’s travel that feels personal, inspiring, and just the right amount of special.

Unlike many large, budget-driven tours that cater to either a party-focused crowd or pack dozens of people into a giant bus, we offer a different pace and a focus on quality.

Our trips are cost-conscious but we never cut corners – we prioritise quality over tourist traps, and design each experience to feel both elevated and accessible. If you're looking for meaningful travel with like-minded women, where you're treated as a guest rather than a number, you're in the right place.

  • Absolutely – in fact, most of our guests do! Elsewhere Collective is designed with solo women travelers in mind. Whether it’s your first time traveling alone or you’re a seasoned explorer, you’ll feel right at home in our small, supportive groups. We create a welcoming space where connection happens naturally, and many of our guests leave with genuine friendships (and future travel plans!) by the end of the trip.

That said, if you have a small group of friends and want the ease, structure, and quality of a curated tour, you’re more than welcome to join us together – it’s a wonderful way to travel with close friends without the stress of planning every detail.

Our tours are capped at 12 women so you don’t feel overwhelmed.

  • Variety is the spice of life, so you’ll find plenty of diversity in our groups. It doesn’t matter what your background is - we’d love to welcome you.

The only requirement is that all participants are

    • 25+

    • Physically fit enough to walk moderate distances, up stairs, etc (don’t worry, it’s not an Iron Man competition, but we will be doing a lot of walking)

    • Ready to have a great time!

  • Absolutely – we love when guests join us with friends, a sister, or mum! While our tours are designed with solo travelers in mind, they’re also a wonderful way to spend quality time with someone special, without the hassle of planning everything yourself.

You’ll still be part of a small, friendly group, and there’s plenty of opportunity to connect with others while enjoying the experience together.

We also offer a referral perk: book with a friend and you both benefit from £150 each, deducted from the total cost of your tour!

  • Yes, absolutely.

We do our best to accommodate dietary needs such as vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, or other allergies and restrictions.

Just let us know at least one month before your tour begins, so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

While we can’t guarantee every meal will be perfectly tailored, we’ll always ensure you have suitable, enjoyable options throughout the trip and the earlier we are told the more we can do to tailor things for your requirements.

  • Our tours are moderately active – think city walking rather than hiking boots.

You can expect to be on your feet for several hours a day as we explore neighbourhoods, visit markets, and stroll between activities.

If you’re generally fit and enjoy walking, you’ll be just fine – no extreme fitness required! We estimate you’ll be walking 15,000-20,000 steps per day.

  • Absolutely!

We know not everyone has exactly the same taste. While most of our activities will be preplanned and done as a group, we give everyone some free time to explore, visit museums that appeal to them, see landmarks we might not stop at with the group, etc.

And if you have no idea what to do with your free time, don’t worry - we have plenty of suggestions!

  • No – and that’s one of the things that makes Elsewhere Collective different.

We’ve carefully chosen boutique hotels that allow for private, single-occupancy rooms as standard.

Unlike many group tours that require room sharing or charge steep upgrade fees, we believe solo travel should still come with comfort and personal space. You’ll have your own room to unwind at the end of each day – no awkward roommate matching here.

That said, if you’re travelling with a friend and would prefer to share a room, just let us know before booking and we’ll do our best to arrange it for you.

  • Of course. We can offer shared accommodation at a slightly reduced price. Send us an email and we can provide details.

  • First, you register your interest by filling out our short application form, for your preferred tour.

Once we receive enough interest to move forward, we’ll send out a “get ready” email inviting applicants to secure their spot. At that point, you can confirm your place with a 50% non-refundable deposit (with the balance due 60 days before departure). If you’d like to pay in full, just send us a note and we can arrange it.

With just 8 to 12 spots per trip, applying early gives you the best chance of joining us!

  • We ask you to fill out an application to make sure our forms are being filled out by real people, not bots, and to guarantee we have enough people to meet the trip minimum. We won’t deny you a spot on a tour for any reason.

  • Yes!

When you're offered a spot on one of our tours, you can secure your place with a 50% non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance is due 60 days before the trip. This gives you a little more flexibility while ensuring your place is reserved – our small group sizes mean spots can fill quickly!

If you’d like to pay in full just send us a note and we’re happy to accommodate this - and we offer a £150 discount if you pay in full.

  • Yes – we strongly recommend that all guests have travel insurance in place before the trip. It’s the best way to protect yourself in case of unexpected events like cancellations, delays, lost luggage, or medical issues while travelling. While we hope you won’t need it, having coverage gives you peace of mind – and ensures that if the unexpected does happen, you’re well taken care of.

  • If we don’t meet the minimum number of confirmed bookings to run a tour, we’ll let you know as soon as possible – and you’ll receive a full refund of any payments made.

Our small group model means every spot counts, but we’re committed to transparency and will always keep you informed well in advance.

You’ll also have the option to transfer your booking to a future tour if you'd prefer.

  • Yes, absolutely.

If you’d like to arrive a little earlier or stay on after the tour ends, just let us know – we’re happy to help you arrange extra nights at our hotel (subject to availability) or provide recommendations nearby.

It’s a great way to ease into your trip or enjoy a little more time in the city.
